Bittersweet Farms, situated on 80 acres near Whitehouse, Ohio, was the first farmstead in North America to focus on serving adults with autism and their families. Founded in 1983, gardening and growing food for our 15 original residents with autism was part of everyday life. Activities expanded from time to time, including a garden stand at the driveway, selling at local farmers markets, some years were spent growing flowers to dry and bedding plants to sell rather than focusing on growing plants for food. In recent years our focus has turned back to growing vegetables and fruits for our CSA Program.
